Sarah, Midwife Manager & Lead Sonographer
Sarah Madden, Msc RM RGN, is the midwife manager and lead sonographer in Merrion Fetal Health. She has been working in ultrasound for over 12 years. Sarah trained as a nurse in James Connolly Memorial Hospital, after studying in Dublin City University. She trained as a midwife in Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital Drogheda, in association with Trinity College Dublin.
Sarah commenced her education in ultrasound in Queens University Belfast and received her Masters in Diagnostic Imaging from University College Dublin.
Sarah is a member of B.M.U.S. ( British Medical Ultrasound Society).
Every day things are changing and developing in ultrasound, but not a day goes by that Sarah is not amazed at her job!
Mary Moran PhD – Registered General Nurse & Midwife
Mary has 17 years experience in Obstetric & Gynae ultrasound. She obtained a Higher Diploma in Diagnostic Imaging (UCD) whilst working in the fetal assessment unit of the National Maternity Hospital, where she held position of Clinical Midwife Specialist (first in Ireland) and Clinical Midwife Manager. Mary also holds a MA in Healthcare Management from the Institute of Public Administration.
She is currently a lecturer in Obstetrics and Gynae Ultrasound (UCD) and Programme Co-ordinator for all UCD Post Graduate Obstetric & Gynae ultrasound programmes.
Mary was awarded a PHD in 2014 (subject: Ultrasound Assessment of Placental Health)
Member of British Medical Ultrasound Society (BMUS) and the International Society of Ultrasound in Obstetrics & Gynaecology (ISUOG)
Mary Doyle H.D.D.I., R.M, R.G.N.
Mary presently works as a Midwife Sonographer at Merrion Fetal Health.
Mary previously held the post of Clinical Midwifery Manager/Sonographer for 20 years at University College Hospital Waterford. She qualified as a General Nurse and Midwife in London having trained at Whipps Cross Hospital, The Mothers and St. Bartholomew’s, now the Brompton Hospital London.
Mary trained and practised Ultrasound in both The Waterford Maternity Hospital and University College Hospital Waterford.
When Midwives were first granted access to third level education in Ultrasound, she enrolled in the School of Diagnostic Imaging and received a Higher Diploma in Diagnostic Imaging ( Obstetrics and Gynaecology) from University College Dublin.
Feena Sheeran RGN, RM H.DIP, MSc Diagnostic Imaging
Feena originally trained as a general nurse in St James’ Hospital, Dublin. She then went on to undertake her midwifery training in The National Maternity Hospital, in association with UCD. Feena worked as a midwife in The National Maternity Hospital.
Later Feena spent some time travelling in Australia and New Zealand, at which stage she deepened her experience working in both city and rural hospitals. She worked as a midwife in the Australian cities of Sydney and Melbourne, followed by a period working in a small rural hospital in Victoria. Additionally in Hawkes Bay in New Zealand, Feena gained more valuable experience working in another rural unit.
In 2009, she returned to Ireland at which stage she began her journey in Obstetric Ultrasound in The Coombe Women’s Hospital. Feena commenced her Masters in 2011 in UCD and following its successful completion, she worked as a CMS in ultrasound from 2013, up until July 2016. She has been part of the team in Merrion Fetal Health ever since.
Helen Mobasser RGN RN BSc Nursing HDDI
Helen originally trained as a general nurse and midwife in the UK. She moved to Ireland in 1988 and worked as a midwife in Mayo General Hospital.
After completing her Higher Diploma in Diagnostic Imaging (UCD), she worked as a Clinical Midwife Specialist in Mayo. She has 14 years experience in working in fetal ultrasound, 6 of which have been with Merrion Fetal Health.
