Merrion Ultrasound is an ultrasound clinic in Dublin 2, which is a medical collaboration between five consultants. The clinic is led by the following consultants: Dr Peter McParland (non-clinical), Dr Stephen Carroll, Professor Fionnuala McAuliffe, Dr Shane Higgins and Dr Rhona Mahony.

All are Consultant Obstetrician Gynaecologists with specialist training in Fetal Medicine, based at the National Maternity Hospital, Dublin.

Sonographer Midwife Led

The clinic is midwife/sonographer-led, headed by Sarah Madden, who is the Midwife Manager and Lead Sonographer.

The team are fully trained, qualified, and experienced.

Ultrasound For All Stages Of Pregnancy

Merrion Ultrasound offers ultrasound for all stages of pregnancy including early pregnancy scans, nuchal scans, anatomy and growth scans. We can also offer the NIPT (formerly Harmony Test) Non Invasive Prenatal Test. Gynaecological and fertility scans are available on referral.

7. 42″ screens in each ultrasound room allow you and your partner to see your scan clearly and in complete comfort.

8. Merrion Ultrasound is conveniently located in Dublin 2 and offers ultrasound for all stages of pregnancy including early pregnancy scans, nuchal scans, anatomy and growth scans. Merrion Ultrasound is open to all women, not just those attending the National Maternity Hospital.

9. Last but certainly not least, our team are not only highly experienced professionals; many of us are parents, and several of our team members have experienced pregnancy and birth themselves.

We had our anomaly scan with merrion fetal health this week. This is our second baby and second time with the clinic. The clinic is a very calm environment from the moment you walk in the door, and the receptionists are all very helpful and friendly. Michéle performed our scan and was superb! She talked us through every image on the screen and it was really enjoyable.Thanks Michéle and all staff at merrion fetal!

We had an early pregnancy scan and a harmony test at Merrion Fetal Health and I cannot recommend them enough. Michéle did both procedures for us and I have to say, I've never felt more cared for and supported. She could not have been more professional but also kind and excited with us. We had experienced pregnancy loss previously and every experience with her has helped us to heal in a way that I didn't know we needed. She truly made a difference and we won't forget her! My husband and I had a very positive experience at Merrion Fetal Health. All staff from reception to the nurse who saw us were very friendly and efficient. We only had to wait a few minutes extra beyond our scheduled time and the scan was clearly explained as the nurse moved around different parts of our baby's anatomy. The nurse had a good sense of humour as well when our baby did the metal hand gesture towards the start of the scan! I would have no hesitation in recommending Merrion Fetal Health to anyone for pregnancy related reasons.

I had the most amazing experience having the Harmony PreNatal test done at the Merrion Fetal Health. The whole process of booking for an appointment, taking the test and getting the results took a week.
At the clinic I was treated with so much care and respect by the midwifery that explained how the test works, what it can happen and also reassured that they were there to support me whatever the results are.
I got a call from the clinic at the day they had the results and was also super happy and excited to know if it was a boy or a girl which is something you are able to know with the test. If you are in doubt to have this test done or not, please do contact them and I can assure you that they will give you all the necessary information and support!

Attended for both early pregnancy and anatomy scans. Facility is spotless and has a lovely, calm feeling. The staff are extremely diligent, professional, friendly and respectful. State-of-the-art equipment and wonderful to have the images &videos sent directly to your phone.

Amazing facility, so calm serene and not hospital like in the slightest. Incredible staff. From front desk to secretaries to the nurses taking bloods and consultants, such a lovely manner by everyone, you truly feel in the best care possible. Couldn’t recommend more.

I attended Merrion fetal health for ultrasound scan and genetic testing during the first trimester and I am truly grateful for the attentiveness and great experience. I went to Merrion Fetal Health for a Harmony Test, I was very pleased with how I was treated by all the staff, the service was quick, clear and very clearly explained. The midwife who took my scan and did my blood tests (Feena) was extreemly nice and professional, I felt very reassured. I was also very happy with how quick the results came in! I've been here for the harmony test and had truly great experience, the consultant gave detailed information during the visit, had engaging discussion about the baby and while my partner was not allowed in the room due to COVID-19 restrictions, we've got some nice pictures from the scan and detailed report with fetal measurements on it. Unfortunately, my experience was not so good with the 20 week anatomy scan that I did in here. Even though my husband was allowed in, they reduced the time of the visit to 15min, so the sonographer was rushed to tick off all the boxes and did not discuss anything with us, nor we received any report and pictures were all blurred and nothing much to see from them. On top of that, the big screen was not in function this time, so I had to twist my neck to be able to follow what's shown on the screen. After few days of worrying what the result of the scan would be, to not getting any information out of it, so I will need to repeat the scan somewhere else to get the peace of mind.

Was here for my harmony test and was completely relaxed and put at ease by my ultrasound technician which I didn’t catch her name but she made me feel so much better in my appointment and explained everything , I will surely be back in the future .

I visited Merrion Fetal Health for my 20-week fetal anomaly scan and had a really pleasant experience. The receptionist was helpful in walking me through payment and even called me later to further explain some charges. The technician who performed our ultrasound and Harmony test was really approachable, kind, and informative and didn't mind my many questions. Thank you for making an otherwise anxious time such a wonderful experience for this first-time expecting mum!
